Prague is a good city to dance bachata. There are schools that teach in English, socials on weeknights, and several international festivals a year. Whether you live in the Czech Republic and want to learn bachata, or you are visiting and want to find a party tonight, this guide shows you where to go. (Hledáte kurzy bachaty v Praze? Většina škol níže učí i česky.) Schedules change each season, so always check the school's or party's own page before you set off.
Bachata classes in Prague for beginners and up
Course formats vary: some schools run semester courses (autumn and spring) at several levels, others run rolling courses or drop-in and open classes. You can usually join without a partner, as classes rotate partners. If you want to learn both roles, ask the school about role rotation. Expect the basic steps, footwork, musicality and partner technique in the first semester, then styles like sensual, Dominican or moderna.
| School | Where | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Jorge y Mónica Academy | Smíchov (near Anděl) | Bachata and salsa taught in English, semesters at five levels. Founded by the couple behind Bachata Czech Republic Festival. |
| DanceDifferent | Nové Město, Prague 2 | Cuban salsa and bachata, with intro classes for complete beginners. |
| Ruben-Dance | Several locations | Dominican bachata, salsa and merengue, taught in Czechia since the 1990s. |
| La Tropical | Prague 1 | Courses and open classes in bachata, salsa and ladies styling. |
Full disclosure: Jorge and Mónica founded this festival. We list the other schools because a city with more good teachers is better for everyone who dances.
Bachata socials and dance parties in Prague: how to find tonight's party
A social is where you practise what you learn: a party where everyone dances with everyone. In Prague most socials are mixed salsa and bachata, a few are bachata only, and many start with a short open class.
- Weeknights are the core of the scene. Most weeknights, from Monday to Thursday, have a regular salsa and bachata night somewhere in the city, often with a beginner class at the start. Venues and nights change, so check the upcoming schedule on the organiser's Instagram or Facebook page before you go.
- Summer brings open-air socials by the Vltava river.
- Special parties run through the year, including BCR Nights by the festival team.
The quickest way to find tonight's social is to ask in the local Facebook groups ("Bachata Praha komunita", "Prague Bachata, Salsa and Kizomba") or in the BCR WhatsApp group, where dancers share what is on each week. New to socials? Read social dance etiquette first.

Our guide to all bachata festivals in Prague in 2027 compares them side by side.
Bachata in Prague for visiting dancers
- Language: English is spoken at almost every social and most festival classes.
